Institute of Biomedical Technologies

There are two labs available within The Institute of Biomedical Technologies.

The tissue mechanics and respiratory function lab contains both in vitro and in vivo facilities. The in vitro facilities include tissue mechanics testing equipment and molecular biology analysis facilities including fluorescence microscopy. The in vivo facilities are focused on testing respiratory parameters in mice, with resources for respiratory parameter measurements and vibration/oscillation chambers currently being developed.

The polymer processing and characterization lab provides facilities for polymer processing primarily in multiphase systems such as blends, composites, and functional fillers. Available processes include: size reduction, agglomeration, compaction/granulation, mixing and blending, drying, desolventizing, stripping and thermal reactions. This lab is ideal for investigation of polymer mixing and compounding operations.
