Wide peripheral imaging laparoscopic ultrasound to guide invasive probes for ablation treatments

Project Summary
This proposal focuses on LUS in laparoscopic surgery where less organ deformation occurs, but where accurate real time 3D localisation of ablation probes in relation to a tumour is critical. Unlike current navigated systems which use optical, magnetic or other sensing, the LUS probe being developed here provides a wide peripheral beam for improved positioning of the treatment probes relative to the diseased site directly.
